Movecation Day 2

Day 2 of our movecation was filled with much less driving than day 1. We awoke early and were on the road by 7 again. We arrived at the Grand Canyon at 10:15. With a high for the day of 30 degrees it was required that we really bundle up. We were trying to travel as lightly as possible so we were missing out on gloves for some people but we managed well enough.

We wore our Team Lindh sweatshirts underneath our coats. The canyon was beautiful even veiled in snow. We were so impressed by the awesome views and depths the canyon has to offer. We had lunch at the Bright Angel Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was great, and it was nice to warm up. =)

There were quite a few people there and it was fun to hear all the different languages spoken. One kind woman offered to take our picture for us which was very appreciated as I didn't feel like carrying the tripod everywhere with us. (And yes, I did pack it in the van so that I would be able to take family photos along the way. Obviously at Hoover Dam it wasn't used either but you'll see other good shots in later posts.)

A crow decided to join our picture, like we don't have enough subjects in the photo!

Now, the canyon!

Some cute kids I saw around the park, a lot!

Now back to the canyon.

More interesting people enjoying the canyon and each other.

Sorry, you get to see all attempts at a decent picture. Our two youngest are SO squirrly sometimes!

After lunch we decided to take the Grand Canyon bus over to a trail that can only be accessed by bus but the weather was less than cooperative. Snow started falling and fog came with it so we skipped a second "hike". While on the bus we saw elk on two different occasions but I was only able to get one good shot. By 3 we decided to call it a day, we were half frozen and there was little to see with the fog settling in, and we headed onward to Flagstaff, AZ after a quick stop for hot chocolate at the local McDonald's.
