Movecation day 3

Day 3 was spent driving with all cool things to see to be seen from the car. We headed south out of Flagstaff headed towards Phoenix. At the suggestion of our real estate agent here in Friendswood we detoured through Sedona. It was a beautiful drive. I know it would have been a little more impressive without the snow but it was worth it nonetheless. The snow kind of hid all the colors of the rock but the structures themselves were cool.

On the drive into the "canyon".

We did stop less than 1 hour into our journey, it was not even 8 am and we weren't bundling back up to take any family photos but we did take a few of the scenery.

More driving pictures.

Then we drove through a lot of Arizona. We had a brief stop in Phoenix to stretch and snack up. At the suggestion of my friend Kelly we stopped just outside of Tucson to see Saguaro National Park. So glad we listened to her suggestion. It was another driving sight to see but we did stop at one point to take some pictures with the tripod.

We had a few hail showers while looking at all the cool cacti. A bit of a dichotomy to be in the desert and have cold weather and hail.

Pretending to sit on a cactus was a fun pose for many different people.

Other cool cacti.

This was a cool rock formation we saw between Tucson and Las Cruces, NM where we stayed the night.

When we got to Las Cruces it was New Year's Eve. I pulled out some glow in the dark bracelets that I had intended to use back on our camping trip during our staycation and we played with those as we went out for ice cream. Unfortunately "out for ice cream" is easier said than done in this town on New Year's. Both Dairy Queen and McDonald's were closed! So we settled for a half gallon of ice cream and some root beer from Albertson's. Sadly, Jason and I were so tired that it wasn't until we reached the hotel that we realized we had bought Dr. Thunder, not Root Beer! It does not make good floats! But we had also picked up Nestle drumsticks for those who don't like floats so it wasn't a total loss.

With a little flash action.

That night was a nice treat because we didn't have to set the alarm for the next morning. We could get up and going when we felt like it. More about that in the next post.
