Marching band season

WOW!! We made it! Marching band is not anything new to our family but Texas marching band is. "They" say everything's bigger in Texas and well, it is. Marching band is something that is pretty intense down here so there was a bit of a learning curve for something our family has done for the last 4 years. It started with band camp. It ran from July 29th to August 23rd, the full four weeks before school started. And it was from 7:30am-11:30am and then 4pm-8pm. Once school started practices were after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-5:30 and then every Saturday morning from 9-12. We had never seen anything like this before.

When football games were on a Friday they would have an extra practice from right after school until they left for the game so they wouldn't come home until 10:45/11 on those days. Saturday games and competitions would sometimes keep them busy from 9am to 9,10 or 11 at night. But despite the numerous hours of practice and performance they had a good time and learned lots.

I'm including shots from games and competitions in here. Good luck finding each of them.

Seniors were acknowledged on October 5 in a pregame show. Jason escorted Rachel for the afternoon's event.

Different event

There are two high schools served by Brookside Intermediate School, Clear Springs and Clear Brook, we are zoned for Springs. But Brook's band was at a competition in Georgia on October 26th and could not play for their football game so they asked BIS to sit in for them. Anna got to participate in that and had a great time playing her drums.

On Sept 28th BIS got to sit with their respective bands when Brook played Springs. Anna had a good time hanging with Rachel and Nathan.

So that's all about band from July to November!
