Thanksiving week

The 7 kids had the whole week off from classes for Thanksgiving. Rachel had two dual credit classes, classes taken at the community college that give her credit for high school and college, that met on Monday and Tuesday morning. I also had classes those two days. Jason had to work. Rachel also started her first job as a checker that week and worked a few shifts on Monday and Friday. So it was a pretty lax week for the younger set in our home. The weather turned unseasonably cold the weekend before Thanksgiving and on Tuesday before turkey day, we received hail. There was a town just north of Houston that had true snow fall (not stick) at the same time that we received our version of "snow".



Fortunately, by the end of the weekend the weather returned to normal and it was beautiful and so we hit the zoo on Friday.
The elephants were being very playful and the seals were up to some tricks also.

On Wednesday we took our table out of the kitchen, added the last leaf, and put it in the dining room in preparation for Gramma Goodloe and Uncle Kent to come for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. We set up a folding table and chairs in the kitchen for the time being. But we needed to run some errands and Jason suggested we stop by Goodwill to see if they had a table and chair set that we might be able to replace the folding set with. Guess what? We found a perfect set for our home! It has eight chairs, but only six can be pushed in at a time so one chair sits at the computer and the other sits at the piano. It is square and the extra leaf stores inside the table itself to allow the table to seat four. We don't need it that small so we have it up and in at this time.

Jaron and Jason chose to do a polar dip on Thursday morning, it was COLD!!! 36 degrees outside, to be exact!

What you can't see is the steam rising off of Jason, it was kind of impressive.

My grandmother and uncle arrived about 1pm and we ate dinner around 2. They were able to stay and chat with us until 4 and then my grandmother needed to return home, she lives about 50 minutes away. After they left we headed over to a friend's house for dessert and games. We returned home about 8, tired and stuffed. We had a great Thanksgiving break!
