And then we were back on the road. We got to Six Flags about 2:45. I had thought they opened at 2, which is what I had been aiming for but they actually had opened at 1. It was a beautiful sunny day with a high of about 52. When we left Houston it had been so warm the week before (remember the swimming post on Dec 23rd?) that 52 didn't sound like it would be that cold so we only packed sweatshirts. However, when the sun goes down and the breeze kicks up it gets a bit nippy (and that's an understatement!). But we sure had fun. As a side note, I made sure everyone had their Team Lindh shirts which ended up being a very moot point as there was NO way I was taking ANY layer off to show off that thing! Under it all, we're matching but you'll have to take my word for it.

Road Runner day 1

We bought souvenir cups full of hot chocolate that were refillable for free. These helped to keep our hands warm and our spirits up. How can you argue with chocolate, warmth, and free? The sugar content helped us keep moving as I wanted to curl into a ball and go to sleep. You'll see more of the cups in Day 2's pictures.
We headed back to the hotel about 7:30 and picked up dinner from Jack in the Box. We had great rooms at the Marriott Residence Inn and there's nothing better than eating fast food in a hotel room with 60 channels of cable as a family while thawing out. We all slept soundly!
Tuesday morning we ran some errands before the park opened. First, we went to Wal-Mart and bought some layering clothes to keep us warmer. It was a bummer we already own things like that and hadn't packed them but a second day wasn't going to happen if I didn't get something warmer to wear. Then we went to Barnes and Noble to use our Christmas gift cards from G&G Wrzesinski. Shopping is always a fun activity!
Then we went to Costco for lunch - yummy!

About 6pm the weather changed a little. Instead of cold with a light breeze, it now added some moisture to the mix. Nothing you could call rain, just a fine mist that started to make everything a little more damp and much more cold than before. We were done! So off to IHOP for dinner, yeah!! A nice warm meal with great company is a fabulous way to end the day. Back to the hotel for another night of sleep and we were off the next morning for home. But not before stopping at Krispy Kremes for some donuts! It was a great mini-vaca. Can't wait to go again at Spring Break!
