Stitches for Nathan

Thursday was spent together as a family. Rachel took off for a little while from 1 to 3 to hold a game of ultimate frisbee with some band friends whom she misses a lot since marching band ended. In the late afternoon, after putting a lasagna in the oven, we sat down to watch Toy Story 3 together. We had started it the night before and were finishing it in the hour the lasagna cooked.

As it finished, and the credits started rolling, Jaron and Darik got up and were playing. Nathan was still laying on the floor, minding his own business, watching the fun credits that always run at the end of these movies. Suddenly, Jaron gave DTL a playful shove and DTL stumbled and sat right on Nathan's head!

It sure did hurt and we could tell he was in a lot of pain. After a few minutes of letting him regain his composure we decided to look at the damage. His glasses had cut him right where his ear meets his head. It wasn't bleeding too badly but it was the type of cut that would need stitches. So I took him in to the ER and sure enough, a medical professional agreed with me. (I love it when I'm right! But not this time.)

So here are some pictures of waiting around in the exam room.

"Why do you do this to me?"

Waiting for the numbing medicine to take effect.

"It's squishing my eyes."

The final product - three little stitches.

He had a headache on Thursday night and Friday morning but he's recovering well. He spent 2 hours of collecting food for Scouting For Food this afternoon in the rain and is feeling just fine.
