Tender Mercies

The "tender mercies" of the Lord are all around us, if we choose to see them. On Saturday we got to spend the day together as a family. Rachel had a horn lesson but when we got home we left to spend the afternoon together. We had hoped to go hiking but it was cold, windy and rainy so we did other activities.

The children save up allowances and birthday money for the opportunity to go shopping. So we took the time to do that. Anna has been to a friend's home that owns an item called a Ripstick. She has learned how to ride it and loves it. She brought her $27 to Toys R Us in hopes of securing one for herself.



You can imagine her disappointment to find out they cost $80! She left the store very sad. We went on to drop off some recycling downtown and then proceeded to spend about an hour at the children's museum.


After the museum we went to Red Robin to enjoy a great meal together. We hung out, talked, watched some baseball and had a good time. Then we went home to finish up chores that we had left undone. Jason and I decided to leave the cleaning to the kids and ran a quick errand. While we were out Jason suggested we stop by Goodwill and see if there was a Ripstick there.

I responded with, "I guess we can if you want to. The chances that there is one there are slim to none." So we drove on to Goodwill. As we walked in the front door, there was a skateboard, AND a Ripstick, sitting in the window. I couldn't believe it! Turns out they wanted $10 for it!



Anna was THRILLED!



It just makes me feel so grateful for the way our Heavenly Father shows his love us and our children. Jason felt to go look at Goodwill and it was provided for. It seems even more cool to me because this toy is totally a want and not a need, but He provided it all the same. It helps me remember how often the Lord blesses us with our needs to be met and so often our wants also.
