Weeds and planes

Saturday morning we spent weeding the yards. Weeds are the only thing that grow well here in Nevada and we picked a lot of them. Enough that we had to make a trip to the dump with the little trailer completely full of weeds and branches that were trimmed off the bushes in the backyard. When Jason and I returned from the dump we sat down to eat lunch and peruse the newspaper. The Nevada Air National Guard was having an open house from 10 to 4 that afternoon. So we quickly showered and headed out.

We arrived at the Grand Sierra Resort where we were instructed to park and took a bus back over to the base which is adjacent to the airport. It was very sunny but windy and the wind made it a little chilly out. Jason was holding Sarah to keep her warm. Once we started touring around it wasn't too bad but standing in line got cold. We had not told the kids where we were going. Driving down the freeway we passed the planes parked on the tarmac and Rachel said, "I'd love to see those planes up close some day." It was so cool to surprise her like that.

This is the plane we could see from the freeway.

Rachel and Nathan are getting just a little too cool for this type of thing but Anna's still up for it.

Then afterward we stopped at Yogurt Beach for a treat.
