Easter Weekend

The children have Good Friday off from school and our ward has a tradition of going camping as a group. The place we went was about 1.5 hours north of here. We left around one on Friday (Jason had to put in a half day) and headed to Double Lake State Park. Having never group camped before in our lives we were a little unprepared for some of what we found. There was plenty of area to pitch the tents but there were only a few picnic tables and only two fire rings. I had planned some of our meals around the fire pits but we weren't able to pitch our tents near those, nor a picnic table.

Now, everyone was more than willing to share these items, no one particular family "had" a table or firepit but seeing as we're such a large family it would have been nice to have either to ourselves, or had brought items to compensate for it better. We made do and had a good time but I'll be better prepared next year. Next year I'll bring a folding table and a campstove and it will make all the difference. I took two pictures of kids playing on the rope swing and then forgot to continue for the rest of the weekend. Again, next year.

We hiked around the lake and hung out with other families and then had a very nice fireside Friday night. Saturday morning breakfast was provided by the ward and then we packed up our tent. After camp was cleared an Easter Egg hunt was done and all the kids enjoyed that. Then we headed back home to see if the Easter Bunny, true to form, had delivered his goods Friday night. He didn't disappoint.
