We surprised Rachel with a set of pearl earrings and a pearl necklace for her birthday. She had no idea she was getting them and LOVED them.

Graduation party on the 5th with the Carico family. Zach graduated on the 4th and Rachel on the 7th from two different schools so we celebrated on the 5th together. Zac's birthday is June 9th so we combined all 4 events to make the party really memorable. Jeff and Deb, Zac's parents, our friends, and Jae and I went in on a graduation gift for the two kids that we knew they'd love. We gave them tickets to Daughtry and a visa card for dinner out before the show. We made the kids go to the store for a list of "forgotten" things from the grocery store. The list was organized such that if you paid attention to the first letter of each item, in order, it spelled out Daughtry. When they returned home from the store we asked them what their gift was going to be. It took them some work but they finally figured it out and were very excited and happy to go see the band up in the Woodlands on the 27th. We sang "Happy Birthday" to them when they got their graduation cake. A great evening for all of us!

On Sunday we drove to Brazos State Park to introduce Bill and Linda to the alligators.
Monday one group went to the beach and I went to school. Jason, Bill and Nathan went up north to look at timber and a small sawmill.

Linda's birthday is the 12th so we celebrated a little early. She chose pie instead of cake for her birthday dessert.
They all took a ferry ride on Tuesday before picking me up from school and we went to Star Cafe for lunch in Galveston.
When we got back to the mainland I played a little hookey and the four adults went to visit Space Center Houston.
It was wonderful to have Bill and Linda come to visit. We hope they get to come again sooner than another two years, but maybe when it wasn't quite so warm and muggy. =)
The kids had a temple trip in June and it was Jaron's first time attending the temple. I stayed home with the three youngest and studied (can you see the trend yet?) while Jason helped chaperone this trip. After they were done attending the temple they stopped for a photo.
After months of waiting, Rachel gets a haircut! She had wanted it for a long time but I asked her not to do it before graduation. Those hats are hard to keep on and so I asked her to keep it long until graduation passed.
June 14, Nathan takes a 50 mile canoe trip for High Adventure with scouting. He was gone for a week and had a great time with the other 14 and 15 year old boys.
Jaron earns merit badges in a Court of Honor.
Nathan's 16th birthday was June 27. It was a busy day for all of us but a change in my schedule allowed me to be home and not in Galveston so we met Jason at Five Guys for Nathan's birthday celebration. The place isn't really set up for a family of nine but we made it work because that was where Nathan wanted to go. We even sang "Happy Birthday" to him right there.
That night Rachel and Zac went to the concert and had a great time. It was the first time she had ever driven that far (1 hour north of our place) without me or Jason and she made it safely there and back.
I'll spare you the blurry, light-filled pictures of the band performing, you can't really see any of the people anyway.
