Rachel's friend, Zach Carico, left for his mission on the 2nd of December. During sacrament meeting on Sunday the 7th Sarah wrote this note about Zach. Sometimes the girl forgets she's only 7.

December 9th Jason saw these beautiful deer at the Johnson Space Center property, near his work.
December 10th Darik had a parent's visiting day at his pull-out program he had been attending this fall. This was his car and friend.
December 17th Darik "crossed over" from cub scouting to boy scouting.
December 18th was Jaron's school concert.
Sigma Theta Tau held their induction ceremony on December 19th. Jason drove down after I finished my final tests to be present for the occasion of receiving my honor cords.
December 20th was got a sweet surprise. We could hear the firetruck moving through our subdivision and so we went to see what the noise was all about. The fire department was delivering candy to everyone in the neighborhood.
December 21 through 23 we took a small family trip. We headed to San Antonio and visited the Alamo that afternoon. The next morning we visited UTHSCSA to see if Rachel would like to attend nursing school there. We had a great visit with the dean of admissions who gave us a private tour. Then we headed up to Natural Bridge Caverns to explore a natural wonder of the Texas Hill Country. After our time in the Caverns we headed north to Round Rock to see TSU School of Nursing campus. That evening we landed, by design, in Giddings to enjoy Lights of Tejas.

Along the riverwalk after dinner.
The Alamo after dark.
"Waiting" for me and Rachel to talk with the dean at UTHSCSA.
The Caverns.

Our one room cabin we stayed in at Lights of Tejas.

Just outside our cabin.
Zipline and climbing wall, some of us rode the zipline and some climbed the wall. It was too dark to take good pictures.

A smaller zipline that Caleb availed himself of.
Hayride with caroling (provided by the lovely Lindh family).
Fireworks show on the lake.

In the craft room where the professional picture was taken.

On our way home Tuesday morning we "swung by" College Station to see where Texas A&M's School of Nursing is. Rachel did a 3 week mini course over the Christmas break and was doing homework while on our trip. I also had quite a bit of homework over the Christmas Break that I spent reading and preparing for the spring semester. But we made sure to have fun along the way.
And then it was Christmas Day!

And 2014 quietly, but never calmly, drew to an end.
