Carving Pumpkins

We had a showing on the house this afternoon. Right after church we changed and tidied up the house we cleaned yesterday. It wasn't too hard, Jason had stayed home with Jaron and Anna who had both visited urgent care, at different times, on Saturday and tested positive for strep throat. So we headed out at 1:20 and ran some errands like dropping off donations to Value Village, found after cleaning up yesterday, and returns to the library. When we got home we carved pumpkins! Thanks to Gramma Lindh for supplying two beautiful pumpkins to gut and carve.

And here's our cheesy smile.

Now, you ask, how do you get 7 kids to share two pumpkins? Easy! The names of the six oldest kids were put in a "hat". Two "eyes", two "noses" and two "mouths" were put in a separate pile. Sarah got to pick a name and then a face part. So it goes until you have Rachel on eyes, Darik on nose and Jaron on mouth of pumpkin number one. Nathan got eyes, Anna had nose, and Caleb got to design the mouth of pumpkin number two.

Being as Halloween is on the Sabbath this year we won't be trick-or-treating tonight but Happy Halloween to everyone!

Very creative pumpkins and pumpkin planning! We'll have to try the puking jack-o-lantern next year (sounds like perfect humor for a five-year-old).
