Our fourth of July

On the first of July the Galena High band practiced all their marching moves and music in the neighborhood. We live two blocks from the school so we got to see them come by.
Coming by the front of our house. I was a little slow and missed Rae who is in the front.


But then they returned past the side of our home and I got a good shot.



Saturday morning, 4 am.


Rachel left early the morning of the second of July to attend the fourth of July parade in Washington D.C. I'm going to let her post about that herself. While she was gone we celebrated the Fourth here without too much fanfare. Our church held a community parade that morning at 8:30. Our kids decorated their bikes and the wagon to participate.

We had donuts before hand and then two fire engines came to escort us through the neighborhood. It was a nice little walk/ride and we look forward to it next year. Of course we had a yummy barbecue that afternoon and did a little shopping for new bicycle helmets. There's been some growing going on since the last time we did it, hence the kids were without on parade day. Not anymore. Then we swam and hung out as a family. We watched "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS at 8. We paused it to go outside to our patio to do pop-its once it got dark.


Then we finished off the show with some beautiful fireworks over the nation's capitol. We kept looking at the pictures of the crowd for Rachel, but no such luck. The kids had a slumber party that night and enjoyed being together. They all slept hard and I got a few cute pictures the next morning.
