Yosemite - Day one

We had lunch up at my Grandfather's cabin and then headed out the door to visit the Mariposa Grove of Sequoia Redwoods! We hiked all the way to the top of the mountain to see the museum up there and the giants along the way. Rachel was a machine and pushed a sleeping Sarah all the way to the top. Nathan and I took turns carrying a very unhappy Caleb on our backs.

Caleb was tired, we'd gone to bed late and gotten up early, and had fallen not 50 yds from the car as we started the hike. We'd promised he could take turns with Sarah riding in the stroller but she fell asleep on her second turn. It was a challenge working with him but we all made it up the mountain and we all made it down. (There were serious thoughts about leaving him at the top. It was a good thing that no official vote was taken or he would still be there today.)

Those trees are so impressive! It was so cool to see them. Sarah woke up for the trip down and was willing to walk for a bit so that Caleb could ride, and nap, down the hill.

Starting off, our fearless group.

Mom had to retrieve Sarah.

Caleb is shoe-less because he stepped in mud and we weren't willing to give piggy-backs with the shoes on.

The California tree.

A tree along our hike. Grandpa only went as far as the California tree and then waited the 1.5 hours for us to return. We had no idea it would take that long!

We saw a few of these flowers along our way, they are called snow blossoms, I believe. They are only found at high elevations.

I know, another butt shot, so sue me. Nathan is leading the group with Cub on his back way at the top of the photo. Most of the hike was like this. Rae's a super pusher!

The kids slept really well!
