This picture was taken near the beginning of our project. I've put it here to show the two large piles of dirt under the pine trees at the eastern edge of the yard.
On Friday evening we went down as a family and moved dirt, a lot of dirt. We added to the upper yard by extending it southward toward the trees and lower fence. Then we moved the dirt out under the trees to fill in holes the children have dug on the hillside.
This afternoon was spent weeding the hillside from the lower porch down to the upper yard. Lots of work by lots of people. (And, yes, we know that a few weeds are still there. I ran out of steam and time to make sure every single one was pulled. Like raising children, weeding is a work in progress.)
We removed the little maple tree after extending the lawn. It was "pretty" but stood no chance of truly becoming a full grown tree in that location so we took it out. We left the ground cover plants that are there.
The concrete guys will be coming back on Monday to score the concrete. This is to help prevent cracking in the future. Once they are done with that we will put the trampoline back on the concrete in front of the step where it was in previous pictures. Down near the corner at the west end we will eventually put up a moveable basketball hoop.

I love weeding as a family, it goes so much faster. Looks good! Can't wait to see it all set up and green!
those pine trees are just screaming for a fort. i see connecting tree houses with rope bridges. so get started. =)
