Nathan's 12th Birthday

Nathan turned 12 the 27th of June. I already mentioned the youth program in the post about Rachel. So now he joins the Deacon's quorum at church. He gets to go to youth night on Wednesdays just like Rachel. And he will continue to work on achieving his Eagle Scout rank. He chose to have a small party and invited three friends and three siblings to go roller skating. He had a good time.

My kids have not skated at all in their lives; Nathan-once, Anna-once, Jaron and Darik-never. It was more challenging than some expected but they got the hang of it by the end. We attended the cheapest session, a Tuesday morning at 10 and hardly anyone else was there. What a great thing for some clumsy skaters. Nathan's sixth grade class went skating as an end-of-the-year treat which is why he wanted to do it again. Darik gave up after half an hour. The kid isn't that graceful in shoes, shoes with wheels even less so.
