Trip to Portland, day 3

We were not able to make it to Silverwood this summer. It was decided by unanimous decision that we would not be attending this year. Gramma treated to a local amusement park in Portland called Oaks Amusement Park. It's bigger than Riverfront Park in Spokane and much smaller than Silverwood. It also has a roller skating rink. You get one session of skating with paid admission to the park. Bands are purchased for rides, no gate fee, so Jason got to come along without having to pay to watch us all ride, skate and make ourselves sick. Just kidding, no one threw up but some (read that - the old lady) came awfully close.

This is the one I almost lost it on. Loved the roller coaster though.

These guys rode it but Darik kept his eyes shut the whole time. Nathan never would try it.

Now about the roller rink. Long time ago in a galaxy very close there was a little girl who could roller skate. She enjoyed it but didn't do it very much but when she did she was good at it. As she grew, she did it less frequently until, as an adult she hadn't put on skates in over a decade. The desire to help her younger children become more confident at skating drove her to the floor. And she discovered... she can still skate and she still likes it, a lot!

The practice circle for little learners.

Bigger, braver kids.

Advancing to the skating hall.

The only proof of my time out on the floor by myself. But ask any of my kids, I lapped them all and loved every second of it.

We had a great time. Caleb and Sarah spent the afternoon at Pump it Up, Jr. with their cousin, Megan, and Gramma Ski and Miller Grampa. They are not fans of amusement parks and had a great time playing at PIU and at home with each other without the big kids around. No pictures of their afternoon.
