Nathan's last concert
Nathan had an all district strings concert on Thursday the 14th. It was a busy day that day. Rachel had her last regular track meet that day at CV High school, the "other" high school in the Central Valley District. I volunteered and ended up running B Girls and Boys Shot Put. Got to see Rachel place third at this meet (and 6th in the district). We rushed home at 5:50 and got there about 6:05. Jae had dinner ready and Nathan and I left at 6:20.
We got back to CV High for the concert at 6:35. Even though it didn't start until 7:30 the kids were supposed to be there at 6:30. Jason brought Anna and Darik to CV at 7:25. Rachel was tired and stayed home to watch Jaron, Caleb and Sarah. The concert was held in the gym and featured music from 4 different groups, 5th graders, 6th graders, 7th and 8th graders, and then high schoolers. The gym is not a place to corral two "little" kids for an hour at their bed time so Rachel kept them and Jaron complained of his ear hurting so he stayed home also.
Nathan's group did a great job. We enjoyed listening to all the groups and our favorite was when all four groups played the Can-Can together at the same time. Nathan has decided that he does not want to continue with the violin next year. He wants to move to saxophone and you have to start on the clarinet as a 6th grader before you can do sax at the 7th grade level. So we'll be retiring the violin until some other 5th grader shows an interest. That's the great thing about having seven children, someone somewhere may use it still.
